Difference between Presentation and Knowledge?

Why Presentation is more Important than Knowledge in Exams?
Presentation Vs. Knowledge

Knowledge

We all know very well about knowledge. The studies you have done till now and the information stored in your brain is knowledge.

We can take the example of Business Studies. If you have studied all the chapters in business studies and learned every concept then you will know Business Studies.

Presentation

“First impression is the last impression” is a very famous quote. Some people neglect it but it’s very much true except in some cases. Presentation is like that too.

Presentation in exams means how you are showing answers with the knowledge you have. That answer makes a perception in the eyes of the checker.

A person may have less knowledge but if he/she succeeds in showing great presentation of answers, then the checker will give equal marks to this person as compared to the person with full knowledge of answers.

Real Life Example

Real Life Example

Let me tell you my example when I learned about the importance of Presentation.

I was in class 10 and was a mediocre student, but this time it was a board exam so I needed to study hard. My Social Studies and Science teacher always emphasized the importance of presentation and making it easy for the checker to understand your answer sheet.

They used to give us topper answer sheets to show how they presented their answers in their answer sheet. I observed those answer sheets very deeply but didn’t quite understand the importance of presentation by then.

Finally, the board exam came and as usual, I wasn’t prepared for the Social Studies paper. Truth be told, I didn’t even read any chapter to the last page. I just did important topics, watched videos, and just remembered how to present my answers this time.

Show Time

Finally, that day came for the Social Studies paper. I saw the paper and thought, I somewhat know the answers of all like if there is a question of 5 marks, I correctly know 3 points for it.

I started from the last, using both blue and black gel pens. Used a pencil to draw the margin lines, underlined the important points in the exams, wrote every answer in points, etc.

As I didn’t believe doing these things could make a difference, I was wondering why someone would give me 5 marks if I had written only 3 points correct on that question.

However, I wrote 5 points by mixing the first two points and using just tactics to trick the checker. Sadly, I left 4 marks question in that exam, as I had no clue what the answer to that question would be.

Result

I calculated in advance what would be my marks in all subjects. I thought, I had left 4 marks question in Social Science, and the checker would cut marks for other answers also, so finally I calculated 80 to 85 marks would be correct.

When I checked the result online, I saw 96 marks in Social Studies. That simply meant, all my other answers were fully right, and only the 4 marks I left for was the difference, otherwise, I would have scored 100 marks in Social Science. That day I realised the importance of Presentation.

My 10th Class Result

As you can see, I scored 100 marks in Maths, but I was more happy with my 96 marks in Social Studies as this was unexpected for me. From that day, I could not think of anything more important than presentation in exams.

Why Presentation Matters?

Presentation makes it simpler for the checker to check your answer sheet. Just think, how many answer sheets a checker has to check, that person must get bored of doing it.

Meanwhile, if any answer sheet looks like everything is correct, the checker won’t have to make much effort to read the answers and he/she will go on giving full marks to every answer.

My philosophy while writing any answer is very simple. I always think about how can I make it easier for the checker to check the answer sheet without making much effort.

Conclusion

While talking so much about presentation, the importance of knowledge can’t be ignored. Presentation won’t work till you have enough knowledge.

Remember, you have to present the answers in a great way, but without certain knowledge, there would be no answers. So, you must have enough knowledge to make a good presentation, otherwise all stated above would be of no use.

In the end, it can be stated that if you have 70-80% knowledge and great presentation skills in showing answers, you can get the marks someone else is getting with 100% knowledge.
