This is a very important article for students who have taken exams for the 2nd and 4th semesters or are currently taking them. In this article, I will discuss the Promotion Criteria for SOL 3rd/5th Semester 2024.
Students of 2nd semester will go in 3rd semester and similarly, 4th semester students will go in 5th semester. But, now there is a condition/eligibility for promotion in the next semester.
Before 2022, you were promoted to the next semester and it doesn’t matter if you are getting a pass or not. However, since the implementation of the National Education Policy, eligibility has been introduced to promote students in the next semesters.
Promotion Criteria of NEP
The promotion criteria of NEP is that if you want to get admission in the next year, then you must pass 50% subjects. In one semester you have 7 subjects and in two semesters you have a total of 14 subjects. Now, you must pass at least 7 subjects in a year to get promoted next year.
It doesn’t mean you don’t have to take exams on the subject you have failed in. If you are passed in 8 subjects, you will get admission in the next year but you will have to give papers for subjects you have failed in.
On the other hand, if you are passed in 6 subjects, you will be considered failed and your whole year will be wasted.
Skipping One Semester
If you skip one semester and take exams of only one semester in a particular year then again it will be seen whether you are passed in 7 subjects or not. If you are passed in 7 subjects, you will be promoted to next year.
